I recently took a trip to Brussels with my office for a series of meetings. We have a project that is just starting up over there and it gave me a great opportunity to see some new sites and experience that European urbanism that I deeply miss.
Athleticism meets urbanism.
Leuven, Belgium.
Brussels street life.
Every good urban street should have a good ending.
We visited a library in Leuven that had been burnt down in WWI by the Germans. It was rebuilt and then burnt down again by the Germans in WWII. Universities from around the world came to the university libraries aid in refurbishing its collection on both occasions. In response, the building has the names of all the donor universities all around it. It is a really touching story. At the very front door though is the best university of all, Yale!
The Belgium Law Courts by Richard Rogers in Antwerp.
