DETAIL IN ARCHITECTURE
Graduate Work Spring 2014
Using a minimum of two dissimilar materials, we were charged to create a joint detail specific to those materials. The project was to be built at 1:1 scale, using actual materials and methods of joining. The detail must contribute to a larger idea of how the two materials can be used in design. This project became an investigation of attaching and precise detail of concrete and wood. The Yale Center for British Art directly across the street from our school (designed by Louis Kahn) was a direct inspiration of simplicity and precision. |
